Meet one of our Certified Sommeliers – Briana!

Briana has been in the wine industry since the day she turned 21. She originally started her career as a professional cook but quickly realized that that wasn’t the career path for her. After being introduced to wine at a college party, she realized that she wanted to pursue a career in wine. A few days later she signed up to take Introductory Sommelier Exam and passed. She continued to further her wine education and ended up passing her Certified Sommelier Exam with the highest score at the age of 24.

After working in several different sectors in the wine industry, she decided that her passion was in education and helping others to gain the access and the knowledge needed to enter world of adult beverage. She went on to continue her education journey by pursuing several other certifications including WSET III in Wine.

She is currently studying for both the Advanced Sommelier Exam and the WSET Diploma. Her goal is to become both a Master Sommelier and Master of Wine in order to help guide others through either process as well. If successful, she will be the first black woman to hold either title, let alone both.
